New Orleans Chapter
| The New Orleans APICS Chapter
includes members from Southeast Louisiana, including Baton
Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans and surrounding areas. The New Orleans APICS
chapter is a member of
APICS Chapters nation wide that represents over 66,000 members.
Our chapter provides education and networking opportunities to
operations management professionals with peers in the community. Local companies include Laitram L.L.C., Community Coffee Company, I/O Marine Systems, Inc., Intralox, L.L.C., Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Liquid Container, LSUHSC, Mercedes Benz U.S. International Inc., Pellerin Milnor Corp., and Textron Systems. We offer a full range of Educational offerings leading to certifications in Production and Inventory Management or Integrated Resource Management. We conduct Professional Development Meetings focusing on a variety of subjects from world-renowned authors and local experts in resource management. We are a non-profit organization with no full time staff and all individuals involved are volunteers. Instructors are certified in their instructional area. |
President's Message
Well here we are again at the start of another new year for our APICS
chapter. The Board of Directors is working hard to offer interesting and
educational Professional Development meetings and tours that we hope our
fellow APICS members will enjoy. This year we are also excited to be
promoting and offering in the spring the newest APICS certification:
Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). This course will be in
addition to those we offer each year for the CPIM certification. We are
also happy to announce that we will again hold 2 joint meetings with
NAPM-GNO. With the recent increase in dues, we are striving to increase
the value APICS brings to each of our members and so as a pilot program
we will offer free attendance to the first PDM on September 16, 2008 to
the first 20 “members” who sign up. (Please note membership must be
current.) We are hoping this will be an incentive for more members to
attend this PDM titled “Lean 101” presented by Dr. Kevin Watson of the
University of New Orleans and meet your chapter Board of Directors. The
New Orleans APICS board certainly hopes to see more of our members in
attendance at the various functions this year and as always we encourage
each of you to share the knowledge acquired at APICS events by inviting
your colleagues to join you.
