New Orleans Chapter

The New Orleans APICS Chapter includes members from Southeast Louisiana, including Baton Rouge,  Lafayette, New Orleans and surrounding areas. The New Orleans APICS chapter is a member of APICS Chapters nation wide that represents over 66,000 members. Our chapter provides education and networking opportunities to operations management professionals with peers in the community.

 

Local companies include Laitram L.L.C., Community Coffee Company, I/O Marine Systems, Inc., Intralox, L.L.C., Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Liquid Container, LSUHSC, Mercedes Benz U.S. International Inc., Pellerin Milnor Corp., and Textron Systems. We offer a full range of Educational offerings leading to certifications in Production and Inventory Management or Integrated Resource Management. We conduct Professional Development Meetings focusing on a variety of subjects from world-renowned authors and local experts in resource management. We are a non-profit organization with no full time staff and all individuals involved are volunteers. Instructors are certified in their instructional area.

March Activity

Plant tour of the Community Coffee Manufacturing Plant on Thurs March 4th

·         Description: Take a guided tour of the Community Coffee manufacturing plant in Port Allen, LA. Don’t miss your opportunity to see how coffee is imported, roasted, grinded, packaged and shipped. Lunch and Networking will proceed after the tour.

Directions: coming from New Orleans

  1. Take I-10 W  toward Baton Rouge

  2. Continue on I-10 W across Mississippi River Bridge

  3. Take exit 153 to merge onto LA-1 N toward Port Allen  (first exit after bridge)

  4. At the first light (Ave G), take right onto service road - Harding

  5. Turn right at Capital Dr, Plant will be on the left right under the I-10 overpass

 

Education

Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

·         Deadline for signing up for the CSCP Class being offered by APICS New Orleans is October 5th, 2009

·         Cost: The price for the live/interactive 32 hour CSCP on-line course will be $1,500 per attendee. This includes the Holmes Learning System plus the slide book per attendee.  

·         Time/Dates: The schedule for the CSCP course will start October 12 and run consecutively through November 30, 2009 (weekly classes).  The times are 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Eastern Time.  (This can be an hour later if more convenient.)

·         Registration: Students can register for the courses by e-mailing qmsjerry@tampabay.rr.com or calling 727 725-7674.

·         Requirements: Each attendee will require a headset that plugs into a computer USB port (approx $25).  This allows the student to hear and converse with the instructor during the course. 

·         Instructor: Gerald (Jerry) L. Kilty, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP is the qualified APICS instructor, and has been instructing classroom and online courses for the last 14 years.
